Crime is nothing new. Crime has been going on since recorded time. What is new is what crimes are
being commited and how. You want to avoid being a crime victom as much as anyone else, so how do you do
that?
- Be aware of your surroundings
This makes a lot of common sense. I mean don't go in high crime areas, especially at night when the
odds of being a victom are higher. If you see some people that look the stereo-type criminals...beware,
they probably are criminals or at least want to be.
What most criminals want is easy money or to show thier buddys that they are tough, or both. So
don't go flashing a bunch of money in front of others unless you want them to maybe take it from you.
Don't leave your valubles in plain sight, like your briefcase in the front seat of your car parked
downtown. Don't leave the keys in your car when you go into the 7-11, maybe it wont be there when you get
back.
- Don't make anyone mad you don't need to
What I mean by this is, don't cut people off on the freeway, and if you do by accident just smile and wave
at them. If someone cuts you off, don't take i personally...I mean they were going to cut anybody
off, that is just the way they drive... they did not single you out for demonstration of lame driving
- Know where criminals live
If you are in an area where people commit crimes on a statistically higher level than other areas, you
must be extra vigilant. In some areas of our State criminals are more likely to live in another
area from where they live, in other words transiant criminals. For example in the southern California
criminals tend to go to recreational areas like Glammis, the Colorado River, or the beach areas. In
Northern California we tend to get crime by Mammouth ski resort or some of the State Parks.
